TRAVEL FIRE ALARM & SUPPRESSION TECHNICIAN

Nationwide · Field Travel Role

Pay Range: $25.00 – $60.00 per hour | Full-Time

Travel: ~90% Air | Locations: Nationwide


Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Travel Fire Alarm & Suppression Technician to join our nationwide field service team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of both fire alarm and fire suppression systems across a diverse range of industrial and commercial facilities throughout the United States. Approximately 90% of travel is conducted by air, requiring flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to mobilize quickly to project sites across the country.


Key Responsibilities

Fire Alarm Systems

  1. Install, program, test, inspect, and service fire alarm systems including conventional, addressable, and analog/addressable panels from manufacturers such as Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, Hochiki, Gamewell-FCI, and others
  2. Perform periodic inspection and testing of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local codes
  3. Conduct system commissioning, point-to-point testing, and end-to-end verification on new and existing installations
  4. Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm panel faults, initiating device failures, notification appliance circuit issues, and communication/monitoring problems
  5. Program and configure fire alarm control panels, including integration with suppression systems, access control, and building automation
  6. Complete detailed inspection reports, panel logs, and as-built documentation accurately and on time


Fire Suppression Systems

  1. Install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire suppression systems including wet pipe, dry pipe, pre-action, deluge, and clean agent systems
  2. Service and certify suppression equipment in compliance with NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and all applicable local and state codes
  3. Perform commissioning and startup of suppression systems at industrial, manufacturing, and commercial facilities
  4. Diagnose system malfunctions and complete corrective repairs with minimal disruption to client operations
  5. Conduct hydrostatic testing, flow tests, and ITM (inspection, testing & maintenance) activities as required


General Field Responsibilities

  1. Travel by air (approximately 90% of travel) to client sites nationwide, often on short notice; independently manage travel logistics
  2. Coordinate with general contractors, facility managers, AHJs, and project teams to ensure seamless project execution
  3. Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, work orders, and time sheets
  4. Adhere to all company, client site, and OSHA safety protocols; wear required PPE at all times
  5. Maintain company-issued tools, test equipment, and vehicle in clean, organized, and operational condition


Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Required Qualifications Valid state fire alarm and/or fire suppression contractor or technician license (required; specific license type varies by state and assignment) Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in fire alarm and/or fire suppression system installation, inspection, or service Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and other relevant fire protection standards Ability to read and interpret fire protection drawings, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and system specifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen Strong communication skills and professional demeanor when representing the company at client sites Comfortable with extensive air travel and multi-week stays away from home Preferred Qualifications Industrial experience — manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, data centers, warehousing, or heavy industry — strongly desired NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems, Water-Based Systems Layout, or Inspection & Testing (any level valued; Level II or higher preferred) Experience with clean agent, foam, CO₂, or dry chemical suppression systems Familiarity with multiple fire alarm panel manufacturers (Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, Hochiki, Gamewell-FCI, etc.) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Low voltage or electrical license where applicable Experience in union and non-union work environments
