A leading specialty metals manufacturer is seeking a Preventive Maintenance Engineer to play a key role in driving its company-wide Reliability Program—focusing on uptime, efficiency, and continuous improvement within its Dunkirk, NY operation.


In this role, you’ll lead the facility’s Asset Reliability Management Program (ARMP), ensuring all critical equipment and systems are maintained to the highest operational standards. You’ll oversee maintenance performance metrics, guide maintenance personnel, and collaborate with both plant and corporate engineering to implement reliability-centered strategies that strengthen long-term operational performance.


About the Facility


The Dunkirk facility is a cornerstone of the company’s specialty steel operations, focusing on finishing, bar processing, and heat-treating high-quality stainless and specialty alloys. This site:


  • Processes premium nickel and stainless-steel bar products through precision heat treating, rolling, and finishing operations.
  • Supports both semi-finished and finished long products for aerospace, power generation, oil & gas, and heavy industrial markets.
  • Houses advanced material handling and inspection equipment to maintain the highest levels of quality and consistency.
  • Plays a vital role in meeting customer specifications and delivering performance-critical materials that support the company’s global leadership in specialty steel manufacturing.


Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments; metals or steelmaking preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) or preventive maintenance programs.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platform strongly preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives, analyze performance data, and drive measurable reliability improvements.
  • Strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
