About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced MEP Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team supporting complex, high-performance building projects across commercial, institutional, and healthcare environments. This role offers the opportunity to design innovative electrical systems, lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts, and contribute to projects that directly impact building performance, safety, and efficiency.

As an MEP Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of advanced electrical systems throughout all phases of project development. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled engineer who can manage complex challenges, provide client-focused solutions, and mentor junior team members while delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Engineering

1. Design and develop electrical systems including:
2. Power service and distribution systems
3. Branch circuits
4. Interior and exterior lighting systems
5. Lighting controls
6. Fire alarm systems
7. Low-voltage infrastructure
8. Audio/visual systems
9. Specialty electrical and control systems
10. Prepare detailed construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
11. Evaluate electrical system options and provide recommendations to clients based on performance, safety, efficiency, and code requirements.
12. Select appropriate equipment and develop solutions that meet project goals and industry standards.

Project Leadership & Coordination

1. Serve as the electrical design lead, providing technical direction and guidance to designers, drafters, and junior-level engineers.
2. Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, clients, and internal project teams to ensure successful project execution.
3. Review project requirements, establish design approaches, and maintain alignment with client expectations.
4. Resolve complex engineering issues independently during design and construction phases.
5. Support construction teams by ensuring accurate implementation of design intent.

Field & Construction Support

1. Conduct site visits and field inspections to verify existing conditions and gather project requirements.
2. Review construction progress and provide technical guidance during project implementation.
3. Troubleshoot electrical system challenges and recommend effective solutions.
4. Assist with project closeout activities and ensure compliance with design standards.

Project Management Responsibilities

1. Support electrical discipline project management activities, including:
2. Budget tracking and review
3. Schedule management
4. Project communication processes
5. Quality control procedures
6. Technical documentation standards
7. Monitor project deliverables to ensure deadlines, quality expectations, and client requirements are met.

Required Qualifications & Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.) from an accredited university or equivalent engineering experience required.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
3. Minimum of 7 years of electrical engineering design experience, preferably within commercial, institutional, healthcare, or complex building environments.
4. Strong experience designing building electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and related infrastructure.
5. Hands-on experience with equipment selection, system analysis, and troubleshooting.
6. Strong understanding of electrical construction practices, NFPA standards, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
7. Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings accurately.
8. Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Technical Skills

1. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, OneNote, Outlook, and Word.
2. Experience with Bluebeam and electrical engineering analysis tools such as:

6. Familiarity with engineering documentation standards and construction drawing development.
