Compensation

  • Base Hourly Rate: $32.00 – $52.00
  • Differentials:

Role Summary

The ICU RN – Nights provides high-acuity bedside care to critically ill adult patients in the intensive care unit. This nurse is responsible for ongoing assessment, planning, and delivery of evidence-based interventions; close collaboration with intensivists and the interprofessional team; and continuous evaluation of patient response to rapidly changing conditions during night shifts. NRHA Career Center

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive and focused assessments on ICU patients and document findings accurately. NRHA Career Center
  • Develop and revise individualized plans of care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation). NRHA Career Center
  • Administer IV drips, medications, blood products, and therapies safely and on time; monitor for and respond to adverse reactions. NRHA Career Center
  • Manage ventilated and hemodynamically unstable patients, including titration of vasoactive medications per protocol.
  • Continuously monitor patient status (telemetry, invasive lines, neuro checks, labs, etc.) and escalate changes promptly to the provider. NRHA Career Center
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and self-care, adapting communication to the situation and level of understanding. NRHA Career Center
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, case management, and other disciplines to coordinate holistic care and safe transitions. NRHA Career Center
  • Precept, mentor, and support newer staff and techs as needed; model safe practice and adherence to policies. NRHA Career Center

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience (adult critical care). (Client requirement)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license. NRHA Career Center
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher in Nursing. NRHA Career Center
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications. NRHA Career Center
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, or ability to obtain per facility policy. NRHA Career Center
  • Willingness and ability to work a full-time night schedule (including every-other weekend and unit-based holiday rotation as determined by the unit). NRHA Career Center

 

Preferred Qualifications

You may wish to prioritize candidates who also have:

  • BSN or higher in Nursing.
  • Prior experience in a large tertiary or teaching hospital environment.
  • Charge nurse, relief charge, preceptor, or other informal leadership experience.
  • Additional critical care specialty certifications (e.g., CCRN).
