Role summary

We’re hiring a Founding Fullstack Engineer to help build Greyball’s core legal operations platform. You’ll work directly with the founding team to design and implement end-to-end features—from scalable frontend components in React to backend services in Node.js.

This is a high-ownership role ideal for backend-leaning fullstack builders with experience in scaling early-stage systems, especially in workflow-heavy environments. You’ll collaborate closely with product designers and legal ops teams to shape the architecture and impact product direction from day one.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain major product features across the Node backend and React frontend
• Own system design and architectural decisions alongside the founders
• Write clean, scalable code and lead/participate in rigorous code reviews
• Collaborate with legal ops users and design partners to iterate on product
• Design and optimize SQL-based queries and Postgres schema
• Contribute to DevOps, infrastructure, and integration tooling where applicable

Must-have qualifications

• Strong professional React experience (frontend)
• Strong Node.js experience or proven backend development expertise
• Experience building and scaling document- or workflow-heavy products (e.g., legaltech, fintech, AI tools, XML systems)
• B.S. in CS or related field (or 5+ years at top-tier, name-brand companies)
• Proven track record in startup or VC-backed environments (e.g., Sequoia, a16z)
• Ability to own problems across the stack in a fast-paced, early-stage setting

Preferred qualifications

• Strong command of SQL/Postgres
• Experience with GCP infrastructure and DevOps workflows
• GitHub portfolio or well-documented side projects (code will be reviewed)
• Background in AI/LLM tooling, agent workflows, or prompt engineering
• Experience as an early hire/founding engineer or interest in growing into a CTO-track role
