As a Direct Support Professional, you work one on one with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them build the skills to live independently. You set a schedule that fits around your classes, and you leave every shift knowing you made someone's day a little better.

What you will do Coach daily living skills like cooking, budgeting, shopping, and getting around the community. Teach public transit and support safe, independent access to the places that matter. Help participants prepare for appointments and speak up for themselves. Be a steady, encouraging presence. Keep simple, accurate notes on your phone after each session.

What you bring 18 or older with a high school diploma or equivalent. A valid California driver's license and a reliable, insured vehicle. Patience, good judgment, and a genuine care for people. Able to clear a DOJ and FBI background check via Live Scan, plus a current TB clearance. No prior experience required. We train you.

A plus Bilingual in Spanish and English. Studying a health, education, or human services field. CPR and First Aid certification.

The details Field based across Alameda County. Part time, flexible daytime hours, mostly weekdays. $23 to $28 per hour based on experience. Mileage reimbursed for community travel.
