Job Description

Position Title: Commissioning Manager 

Location: Southern California Region (significant travel required) 

Position Type: Full-Time (Permanent) 

Work Policy: Travel-based role across job sites 

Start Timeline: ASAP 

Compensation 

  • Base Salary: $160,000 – $200,000

Role Summary 

The Commissioning Manager will lead facility commissioning teams on LEED Enhanced Commissioning and Building Envelope projects. This role ensures building systems operate correctly and meet construction contract requirements, while managing staff and collaborating with design and engineering teams.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Lead and manage commissioning teams on MEP, HVAC, fire/life safety, plumbing, lighting, and security systems 
  • Develop documentation and process materials to support commissioning activities 
  • Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and field measurements 
  • Manage project timelines, coordinate with design and engineering firms, and ensure contract compliance 
  • Support system documentation through written and graphical materials 
  • Conduct field inspections and oversee system testing and verification 
  • Perform physical and technical tasks required for successful project delivery 

 

 

Must-Have Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field; OR 4+ years of equivalent technical experience 
  • 6+ years of commissioning or comparable technical experience 
  • CxA certification (completed or in progress) 
  • ASHRAE BCxP certification or equivalent 
  • Proficiency in ASHRAE commissioning procedures 
  • Knowledge of building HVAC, controls, fire/life safety, plumbing, lighting, and security systems 
  • Project management and supervisory/leadership experience 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills 
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Project, SharePoint, Teams, Word) 
  • Valid driver’s license 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience leading commissioning teams on LEED Enhanced Commissioning projects 
  • Knowledge of Building Envelope commissioning 
  • Prior success working in mobile and collaborative work environments 

 

 

Physical Work Classification & Demands 

  • Heavy Work: Exert up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, 20 lbs constantly 
  • Frequent walking across job sites 
  • Climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps at varying heights 
  • Balancing, stooping, reaching, grasping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and standing for extended periods 
  • Reading blueprints, verifying field measurements, and reviewing technical documents 
  • Operating a computer, tablet, phone, and other office machinery as needed 
  • Communicating regularly with team members, clients, and stakeholders 
  • Visual acuity required for detailed inspections and safe vehicle operation 
  • Exposure to noisy environments, outdoor elements (wind, precipitation), and variable temperatures 

 

Requirements & Responsibilities
