COMPENSATION & INCENTIVES

  • Base Salary: $210,000 – $250,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Sign On Bonus: $15,000
  • Relocation Assistance: $10,000
  • Total Compensation Basis for Agency Fee Calculation (middle of salary range + sign-on + relocation):
  • Middle Salary: $230,000
  • Sign-On + Relocation: $25,000
  • Total Compensation Basis: $255,000

ROLE SUMMARY

The Chief Physicist – Radiation Oncology will serve as the clinical and operational lead for medical physics within the Radiation Oncology department at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, accurate, and effective delivery of radiation therapy, overseeing quality assurance programs, and providing day-to-day clinical physics support. The Chief Physicist will collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, therapists, and nursing staff to maintain high standards of patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide daily clinical medical physics support for Radiation Oncology, including treatment planning review and patient-specific quality assurance.
  • Oversee and maintain quality assurance programs for all radiation therapy equipment and associated systems.
  • Lead and coordinate performance testing, calibration, and routine checks of treatment machines and imaging systems used in radiation therapy.
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists and dosimetrists to develop, evaluate, and optimize treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards related to radiation use and radiation safety.
  • Develop, implement, and update policies, procedures, and workflows related to medical physics within the department.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to physics and dosimetry staff.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of new technologies, techniques, and software within Radiation Oncology.
  • Support ongoing quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • MSMP (Master of Science in Medical Physics) or DMP (Doctor of Medical Physics) degree.
  • Certified Health Physicist (CHP).
  • Minimum of 6 years of clinical Radiation Oncology physics experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience within a Radiation Oncology or medical physics team.
  • Experience supporting a variety of radiation therapy techniques and technologies in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated history of driving quality, safety, or process improvement initiatives in Radiation Oncology.
