Associate Attorney – General Liability & Medical Malpractice

Astute Executive Recruiting is partnering with a well-established national defense law firm seeking a New Mexico-licensed Associate Attorney with experience in General Liability and Medical Malpractice defense. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 3+ years of litigation experience looking to join a collaborative team with long-term career growth.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will represent insurance carriers, businesses, employers, third-party administrators, and self-insured clients in General Liability and Medical Malpractice matters from inception through resolution, including mediation, trial, and appeal.

Responsibilities

1. Review and analyze medical records and prepare case summaries.
2. Draft pleadings, motions, reports, and other legal documents.
3. Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions and attend depositions as needed.
4. Manage written discovery and discovery-related motions.
5. Attend hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
6. Take and defend fact witness and expert witness depositions.
7. Prepare cases for trial and assist with appellate matters.
8. Maintain effective communication with clients while managing an active litigation caseload.

Qualifications

1. J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
2. Active New Mexico Bar license in good standing.
3. 3+ years of General Liability and/or Medical Malpractice defense experience.
4. Ability to work efficiently in a remote environment.
5. Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
6. Experience drafting dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment.
7. Excellent organizational and case management abilities.
